Board Term 2017-2020
Tom Gumbart is Lincoln’s Conservation Director and has been in that position since 1999. This work is quite diverse and includes open space preservation, land stewardship, wetlands permitting, and educational outreach. Prior to serving in this capacity he spent eight years working for the non-profit organization, Land’s Sake, based in the neighboring Town of Weston. For the majority of that time Tom served as the Executive Director of this group that runs an organic farm, conducts forestry and other land management operations, and delivers educational programming. He graduated from Utah State University with an M.S. degree in biology, specializing in behavioral ecology and received his B.A. from Middlebury College in Vermont. In between these schooling experiences he travelled extensively while working an array of internships and positions at outdoor educational facilities and ornithological research projects. Tom is half of the Gumbart Conservation-duo. He is married to Carol Gumbart, Westford’s Conservation/Resource Planner. He enjoys many outdoor pursuits including: birding, skiing, biking, fishing, paddling, and photography.
