Joe Grady has been Duxbury’s Conservation Administrator since 1988. During his tenure, over 1300 acres of conservation land have been purchased and protected, and over 5 million dollars in grant funding for a variety of local environmental projects has been awarded to the town. Joe has also been involved in developing a strong local conservation bylaw, working on storm water remediation and innovative municipal Title V projects, providing nesting habitat for Osprey and participating in annual banding and public education programs, and restoration of herring populations to local waterways. In addition to traditional conservation land management, Joe has been involved in protection and management of cranberry bogs, hay fields, and a working Christmas tree farm. Joe was awarded the 1998 Conservation Administrator of the Year by the Massachusetts Association of Conservation Commissioners and received the 2012 Visionary Award from the Gulf of Maine Council. Joe also serves as the Administrator for the Duxbury Community Preservation Committee and has overseen 23 million dollars in projects, and for almost 35 years has served as a Trustee of the Duxbury Beach Reservation, Inc. and has been involved with all aspects of managing the beach environment.
